CIEH Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace

For everyone entering the workplace for the first time – either as part of a work experience programme or at the start of employment – and those starting a new job as part of their induction programme. It is a legal requirement for employers to provide health & safety training to employees.

Duration: Half day programme

Assessment: Multiple choice examination.

CIEH Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace

For anyone in any work environment. Employers are responsible for providing safe and healthy workplace conditions as well as the right systems and methods for safe activities. Employees also have a vital part to play in the equation. They need the right knowledge and the right attitude which demands proper training in the basics of health & safety, as well as specific training for individual tasks.

Duration: One day programme

Assessment: Multiple choice examination.

CIEH Level 2 Award in the Principles of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)

Designed for those who work with or are responsible for hazardous substances in manufacturing, cleaning, healthcare, transport, utilities and offices.

Duration: Half day programme.

Assessment: Multiple choice examination.

CIEH Principles of Manual Handling

For all employees who handle materials, boxes, mail and packages, including both industrial and office workers. This qualification enables employees to contribute to the development of safer manual handling methods and tasks in the workplace.

Duration: Half day programme.

Assessment: Multiple choice examination.

CIEH Certificate in Stress Awareness

Appropriate for all employees, especially those dealing with the public, working to targets or deadlines, providing services, training, supervising or managing. Stress in increasingly a factor in lost working days and the overall reduction in employee effectiveness.

Duration: Half day programme.

Assessment: Individual self assessment.

CIEH Level 2 Award in Conflict Resolution and Personal Safety

Appropriate for all employees whose work brings them into contact with others; including colleagues, customers, members of the public, patients or clients. Work related violence is on the rise and employers have a duty of care to provide a safe place of work. This is not always easy where the potential for conflict and aggression is high.

Duration: One day programme.

Assessment: Multiple choice examination.

CIEH Level 2 Award in Principles of Risk Assessment

For anyone in a work environment as it raises learners’ awareness of the concept of risk assessment. Learning outcomes include the ability to contribute both to the maintenance of a safe work environment and to the process of formal risk assessment.

Duration: One day programme.

Assessment: Multiple choice examination.

CIEH Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment Principles and Practice

Designed for anyone with a responsibility to conduct risk assessments. A properly implemented programme of risk assessments can assist in the prevention of injuries, fatalities, property damage incidents and other losses. This not only helps to prevent human loss and suffering, but also assists the effective management and finance of any business or organisation. Employers with five or more employees need to record the significant findings of risk assessments.

Duration: 20 guided learning hours (minimum contact time 7 hours).

Assessment: Assignment and self evaluation.

CIEH Level 3 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace

For everyone working in a supervisory position. The supervisor is in an ideal position to influence, monitor and train employees. They can also ensure that managers are informed , persuaded, encouraged or pressured into providing for better health & safety standards.

Duration: Three day programme.

Assessment: Multiple choice examination.

CIEH Level 4 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace

This qualification provides those in managerial and supervisory positions with appropriate knowledge and understanding of the issues involved. It is also suitable for those wishing to deliver CIEH health & safety management qualifications as part of their training provision. It is essential for business owners, managers, production managers and supervisors.

Duration: Five day programme. One day per week over five weeks (recommended).

Assessment: Written assignments and examination.

IOSH Managing Safely

Managing Safely is a course for managers and supervisors in any sector and any organisation. It’s designed to give managers all they need to know to help them handle health and safety in their teams. The flexible new high impact programme covers all the main health and safety issues, and includes a session tackling the environment too.

Duration: The course lasts for 24 hours in total. This can be delivered over a full week or on single days or as an evening course and has eight modules.

Assessment: Written and practical assessments.
